ATHLETIC PROGRAM

The sports program is organized to help instill good sportsmanship and cooperation in the lives of the students who represent our school. Specific guidelines and information will be given to those who are interested in participating in sports. Students must achieve average or above average grades to participate. The decisions of the coaches and principal is final in all matters concerning athletics. It is the responsibility of the parent to be sure that the child is properly insured.

Basketball for boys in Grades 5, 6, 7, 8.
Basketball for girls in Grades 5, 6, 7, 8.
Cheerleading for girls in Grades 5, 6, 7, 8.

GUIDELINES

Physical Examinations are needed prior to trying out for the athletic program.
Our Athletic Program is directed by Virtus Trained volunteers; therefore, your support is expected.

No student will be selected for the athletic program if they are not maintaining a solid “C” average in each subject as well as conduct.

The academic status of students selected will be reviewed periodically.

Students who are selected will be suspended from the team if they do not maintain a solid “C” average in each subject or conduct.

Reinstatement will be considered after two weeks if a student attains a solid “C” average or shows improvement in conduct. If a student falls below a “C” average a second time, he/she is automatically off the team.

Any student receiving an “F” in a subject or a 4 in conduct will result in removal from the team or squad permanently.

Poor attitude and lack of self-discipline in the classroom(s) will also be grounds for suspension. Good sportsmanship should be displayed everywhere.
The manager(s) for each team falls under the same guidelines. All team suspensions are reviewed by the Principal.
