St Gregory the Great School
|
September 2010
Dear Parents,
Welcome to St. Gregory the Great Pre-School! Mrs. Joann Belowich and Mrs. Laura Schneeberger will be working
I am looking forward to an exciting year with your children. There is so much for them to learn and discover. The first few months will be an adjustment time for everyone. Being away from Moms and Dads, getting to know their teachers, making new friends, and feeling comfortable in unfamiliar surroundings is quite a bit for three and four year olds to handle.
There will be a “Parent-News” Bulletin Board on the wall to the right of the Pre-School entrance. Please make sure you check it when you drop-off and pick-up your child. This will be where you’ll find important information on field trips, parties, special programs, and sign-up sheets. I will post our class schedule and monthly school calendar. The calendar will tell you when we have a specific color day, when an important event is coming up, and if your child needs to bring in anything that day.
Label Belongings It is very important (and helpful!) for you to label your child’s clothing and lunch boxes (for the Extended Day 4’s.) Communication – I feel that communication is very important between the teacher and the parent. Sometimes it is hectic before and after class with the children coming and going. It helps to set up a time that would be convenient for both of us to meet.
Security System A bell system is in the main entrance and in the Pre-School entrance of our school for security. The Diocese has requested all schools to be secured. The security system will be in operation only during school hours.
Arrival / Dismissal Children arrive at 8:55 A.M. At 11:25 (A.M. class) and 1:55 (Extended Day 4’s), we start to get the children ready to go home. They get their belongings and anything that is going home with them that day, and sit at the tables. We sing our “Good-Bye Song”, and then I will open the door when they are ready and dismiss them to you.
It is important that you make every effort to bring your child to school on time. It allows us to begin our class on time, with everyone present and ready to go. When you drop-off and pick-up your child, please be quiet in the hallway. Children are not allowed to run. The Kindergarten class (next door to us) is in session, and we do not want to disturb them.
Birthdays If you would like to send in a small treat to share with the class on your child’s birthday, that is fine. However, I ask that you let me know in advance so that I can check my calendar. The children do best with finger desserts (a suggestion sheet is attached). Please do not send in candy. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. At the end of the school year, we usually celebrate “unbirthdays” too!
Allergies It is extremely important that you inform us ASAP about any allergies your child might have (food allergies, bee stings, etc.). If we need to keep an EpiPen or Benadryl in the classroom for your child, we require documentation from your doctor.
Virtus Training Just a reminder, any parent that wishes to volunteer must have Virtus Training. You can check with your Parish or log onto www.virtus.org for schedules.
Reminder: Children are not allowed to wear “Pull-Ups” to school. It is our policy that the children be completely potty trained.
Sincerely, Mrs. Joyce Feeney |
