Catholic Schools Week -
PROGRESS REPORTS These will go out for the 4-year-olds
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES Conferences for the 4-year-olds will be held on Tuesday, February 7, Thursday, February 9 and Tuesday, February 14 from 12:30-3:00. Your child’s classes will be held as usual. Sign-up sheets will be posted by the back door for your convenience. Conferences are for PARENTS ONLY; please make arrangements for your child(ren).
*** Conferences for parents of the 3-year-olds will be in April.
WINTER CLOTHING Please dress your children warmly during the cold weather: hats, mittens, and boots. We try to take the children out for fresh air if the temperature is above 30 degrees and the snow is not too deep. We strongly encourage parents to please let their children put on their own coats! Please label their clothing.
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK is the week of January 29th – February 3rd. More information will follow at a later date.
DATES TO REMEMBER
ARRIVAL TIME (3’s and 4’s) Pre-School begins at 9:00 A.M. It is important that you bring your child to school on time. We like to start class promptly. The 4’s begin their day with the “prayer circle”. Sister Mary John comes on the P.A. system and the whole school prays together and then they get their “jobs”. It is very disruptive to the other children, as well as the teachers, when children arrive late. Thank you for your cooperation. Special Note: We are trying to teach the children to be more responsible for themselves. They need to hang up their own coats and put their lunches in the cubbies. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
‘SHOW & TELL’ FOR FOURS Next week we will be starting ‘Show & Tell’ in our 4-year-old classes. This is a fun activity that the children usually enjoy. It gives them an opportunity to get up in front of the class and talk about what they brought in to share. (This activity also improves language development.) Two children will have a turn every day instead of each child bringing in something once a week. This avoids all the children having to wait their turn and sitting quietly for a long period of time. Every child will get a turn. We have a special ‘Show & Share’ bag to send home with the two children the day before their turn. It is their responsibility to bring it to the next class with their Show & Tell in it. We encourage the children to bring in a favorite book or souvenir, a toy (non-violent only), or something they have made at home. (2 or 3 items only.) Please let me know if you have any questions.
