We are the Saint Gregory the Great School Coolit! Team. We are in a statewide competition focused on reducing our carbon footprint. “Coolit! Is a state-wide competition for high school and middle school kids. Our main goal for this project is to reduce our carbon footprint and do whatever we can to reduce on CO2 Emissions and Global Warming
We placed 2nd in the first round of the competition and are working hard to accomplish our goals for the environment by the spring of 2008. In the first round of the competition we made up surveys and gave them out to all of the families in the school. We calculated the schools carbon footprint. During the summer, donations helped us to get new energy efficient lights in our gym; our parents donated money to get new smart thermostats in every classroom.
Our team worked for four months, two times a week and worked on our project. We presented our project to every class. Now we are implementing all of our goals and taking them right into the 2nd and final round and hopefully take 1st place. We will be competing against the top high school and middle school teams in Connecticut. This website is your tool to help us reduce CO2 emissions and help cut down on Global Warming. Thank-You! |
